Fall… should we be snooty and call it Autumn?… is just around the corner. Ok, a little over a month, but that’s close, considering how fast time flies. Not too long before we start seeing scenes like the one here again, which is a nice farm scene south of Central City, Iowa, just off Hwy 13.
Two things make this photo. One, the lines. Not quite leading, but still somewhat. The line of harvested area leads you out of the frame, but maybe… you don’t know… back to the barn. Which brings us to the second aspect, the barn. The red barn. The contrast of the dark deep red is very striking compared to the muted golden browns surrounding it.
You can actually see Hwy 13 in the background, it’s the small break in the corn behind the barn, but I waited until no cars were in the frame so it wouldn’t be obvious and detract from the photo. (Not supposed to give up my secrets, I know.) All a good photo took this time was a short side trip off the highway, and look at what was found. Venture off the beaten path sometimes.

Beautiful red barns make some of the best photos! Nice one. Call it fall or autumn. I don’t care, I am just looking forward to it!
