Has it really been over six months since my last blog post? But I digress. We should be talking about my latest adventure and another round barn, so here we go…
We set up a family get-together in Hannibal, Missouri, as it was about half-way between me & my son and my two other kids. Seemed like a good place to meet and have a picnic. The weekend was a HUGE success, we all had such a good time, and we plan to do it again. But this is a photo blog, so after digressing twice let’s talk about the photo.
There was only one round barn near Hannibal that we could find, and this was it, on Rockford Farm near Eolia. We pull up and there’s people working outside. Now, one thing about me is that I am very self-conscious just walking up to somebody and introduce myself and ask to root around their property, but I decided to do it this time. Well, Missy did it for me so I never had a chance, but there’s the third digression. Anyway, the family was excited we asked and were very gracious in their hospitality. We got an inside tour of the barn along with a history and an invitation to walk around as we wanted to take photos.
The farm dates to roughly 1850-ish and the barn is roughly 1900 to 1910. We were invited back and we plan to go. I’m thinking sometime in the spring, maybe. We have other photos of the farm and inside the barn… plus farm entrance and hay rolls in a field down the road and I will share some of those in the future. Certainly not another six months, I have too much to talk about now.

Love it! You have instilled in me the love of round Barns. I am jealous that I could not be there for the nice tour inside. Never saw the inside of a round barn. Great photo as always!
