
I’ll confess upfront that this isn’t the sharpest photo I have ever done, but on this one I’m going for season and theme over technical quality. I refer to this as a “reverse silhouette”, just made that up. You can have a lot of fun with holiday themes, especially with lights in the dark. The only tough part was the cold. It loses some of its fun when you’re lying on the ground after dark in 25 degree weather. Brrr!
These were done by all the local families, mine and my sister’s, and these are the results. The cool and crafty looking one in the bottom right corner is mine. Obviously my skill at photography does not translate to pumpkin carving.
That being said, there’s something strangely satisfying about still life photography… when I’m in the right frame of mind. I can spend hours when motivated. But then more than once I have bought flowers just to play with photo-wise only to have them die without taking a single shot. It sounded like a good idea when I was driving home.
